Future Care Cost Assessment (or Life Care Plan) is a specific assessment of a disabled individual’s entitlement to medical or rehab benefits based on appropriate legislation. It is often conducted on an individual with a catastrophic injury or a person with chronic health care needs. A detailed assessment is conducted which includes an interview in the home environment, review of medical information, consultation with health professionals and family members, data analysis and research to understand the extent of injury and disability and how it impacts the individual’s daily life. A comprehensive report is produced detailing current and future needs and financial requirements for the injured party by outlining treatments, assistive devices, housekeeping, attendant care, transportation, and other applicable medical/rehabilitation costs needed to maximize the disabled person’s function taking into account legislated funding restrictions.
